Chelsea to recreate Manchester City trick in Premier League title charge

Tuchel guardiola

To stand a chance of winning the Premier league this season ahead of other rivals, Chelsea boss Tuchel is trying to recreate this Manchester city trick.

Deadline day of the 2021 summer transfer window was
certainly one to remember and Chelsea ensured that they
played their part with the signing of Saul Niguez.
It was a 24-hour period dominated by Manchester United
completing a deal for Cristiano Ronaldo but the ever-
calculated Thomas Tuchel was determined to add a finishing
flourish to his summer business.
Following Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Bettinelli into
Stamford Bridge was Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul , with
the club reportedly beating Manchester United to his
signature. After being pushed out wide and even to wing-
back by Diego Simeone, Tuchel was able to tempt the
Spaniard to London with the promise of minutes in the
middle of the park.

It is an impressive unit assembled by the reigning Champions
League winners. Alongside N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo
Kovacic, Saul only increases the intensity of competition for
the two starting spots.
A clip that emerged from Chelsea training during the
international break shows that Saul may have an edge,
however. A shooting drill allowed him to show off his
unerring accuracy, curling a stunning strike into the top
corner from the edge of the box.

Just like Lukaku, the 26-year-old has the tools to add a
missing piece in Chelsea’s title challenge; goals.
While Jorginho may have ended 2020-21 as the club’s top
Premier League goalscorer with eight goals, all were from the
penalty spot. In fact between the Italian, Kovacic and Kante,
no goals were scored from open play in the competition.
We have seen Saul’s ability when it comes to finding the net
before, such as his stunning solo effort against Bayern
Munich in the Champions League in 2016.
Goals from midfield were a driving force behind Manchester
City’s title triumph last season. Ilkay Gundogan found the net
13 times in the league, Kevin De Bruyne six and Bernardo
Silva twice.
While the majority of the attention has gone towards the
goals Lukaku can provide, it could be goals from elsewhere
that take Chelsea to the Premier League trophy.
Saul has already showed he has the tools to provide that
