Operatives of the Lagos zonal office of the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),has confirm the arrest of famous Instagram comedian, model and social media influencer, Nwagbo Oliver Chidera better known as Pankeeroy alongside 34 others over issues of scam and internet fraud.
Pankeeroy is a well known personality on the social media platform Instagram, boasting of over 500,000 Instagram followers,and a graduate from the Redeemer University with a degree in Computer Science.
He was arrested alongside 34 others on Wednesday the 21st of April 2021,at their hideout in JAMES Court,Lekki,Lagos,following verified intelligence reports received by the Anti-graft agency.
Prior to the arrest, Pankeeroy claimed to go into the unlawful act of Bitcoin scam after suffering from depression, hence presenting himself as a bitcoin vendor who redeems bitcoin vouchers using a platform called but coin I rereading.com.
The Anti-Corruption agency disclosed that he uses the platform to scam and defraud his unsuspecting victims.
Items recovered from the suspect were a Mercedes Benz AMG GLE Model worth N36,000,000 (Thirty-Six million Naira),further investigations showed that the suspect has N22,300,000.00 (Twenty-Two million, three hundred thousand) worth of bitcoin in his blocked chain account.
The other 34 suspects are; Nwagbo Chidera Oliver, Chinedu Omesu Christian,Ibrahim Ajani Olanrewaju,Wasiu Olamilekan Sola,Olamiposi Toheep Damilola,Isieq Qudus Olamilekan,Abel Ndubuisi Junior, Emmanuel Nonso Martins,Timilehin Oladipo Jesse,Kelvin Opkere Kendal,Omotola Oluwatobi Emmanuel, Rasaq Toyosi Farouq,Oyelere Olawale Shakiru,Timileyin Odeyemi Damilare,Kelly John Nwanou,Balogun Subomi Ibrahim, Adedeji Emmanuel Olayinka and Makinde Adewale Benjamin,Gafar Kunle Adedamola,Chuka Aniebo Richard, Dibo Ayomide Samson, Rotimi Segun Damilola,Afolabi Bolutife Michael, Adekanbi Elijah Adeola,Emeka Christian Egwuata,Adeyemi Adedanmola Olumide,Awokoya Moyosore Iyaniwura,Efunnuga Damilola Samuel, Samson Makinde Egwuata,Gbemileke Jide Simeon, Omoyemi Fashola Owolabi,Farouk Ibiwoye Olatunde,Orapitan Yomi Segun and Oladunjoye Taiwo Olawale.
Investigations showed that one of the suspect Christian confessed to defrauding an aged Asian-American lady of over $475,000.
Making his statement to the EFCC,the suspect (Christian), confessed to have been disguising as one Dave Frederick, a 58-Years-old United States national on a mission in Syria, using that to scam and defraud his unsuspecting victims.
Other items recovered includes Exotic cars,iPhones,laptop computers, Android and Macbook device.
