Chiwetalu Agu biography is about the life of a Nigerian Actor, Television personality and Movie producer. He was born on the 5th of March 1956 in Amokwe, Udi town, Enugu state, Nigeria. He is originally from Arochukwu, Abia state. Chiwetalu Agu attended Municipal Council School, Ogui town from 1962 to 1967 and Saint Luke’s Primary school, Ogui urban area in Enugu 1970 to 1971, for his primary school education, College of Immaculate Conception (CIC), Enugu from 1972 to 1977 for secondary school education. He furthered his education at Munchen College, Enugu earning a diploma in Dramatics Arts before going to West Germany to continue his study in Wisent College obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Arts.

Chiwetalu Agu has always loved acting from a young age. He started performing in dramas in his secondary school days. After studying in Germany, he came to Nigeria for NYSC and formed a theatre troupe which he called Inspirer Theatre Group in 1983 that performed all around Nigeria.

Chiwetalu Agu started his acting career in 1981 in the NTA television adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s novel, ‘Things Fall Apart’ where he played the role of ‘Anikwu,’ one of Okonkwo’s father in law. He followed up with a role in NTA channel 8 Enugu series titled ‘Ikoro’ which was produced by Joe Onyekwelu. Chiwetala Agu also starred in ETV channel 50’s (ESBS) ‘Baby Come Now.’

After his acting time in Enugu, Chiwetalu Agu moved to Lagos, Nigeria where he got the opportunity to star in ‘Ripples’ produced by Zeb Ejiro in 1987 where he starred as the character of Chief Abunna, the Okemilinaezoluora 1 of Etiti and the Odezulumba of Ogbunike town. He was also part of the Nigerian blockbusting movie, ‘Living in Bondage’ which was produced by Kenneth Nnebue in 1992.

Chiwetalu Agu is well known for his uniqueness and diversity as an actor. He is also known for his usage of funny phrases and slang in movies that are unique for each movie, some of them being ‘Ekwensu onwe phone number,’ ‘Ekwensu eh yu éshi ne church,’ ‘Azu Igbogkpo,’ ‘Awunyem ifewa na ime ife.’ He can play any character in a film, sometimes as a womanizer, a native doctor, a wicked man, a funny man and so many more.

Chiwetalu Agu first film production was a soap opera titled ‘The advocate,’ but the soap opera, unfortunately, did not make it in the industry. He is one of the remarkable and phenomenal actors who has played a big part in the development of the Nigerian movie industry and making it what it has become today.
