Chelsea in pole position to sign €50m-rated Spanish centre-back

Pau Torres is facing an uncertain future at Villarreal. Spain
international is actively looking for a way out of La Liga
giants, with his agent offering him to several top clubs
around Europe. Chelsea and Man City are among the
teams to have been offered the chance to add Torres this
summer.
Juventus have been also approached by Pau’s agent, but
the Bianconeri are preoccupied with the pursuit of Gleison
Bremer. It puts Chelsea and Man City in a great position
to secure the services of the 25-year-old defender, who
has enjoyed a swift rise to prominence at the Spanish
club.
With a total of 133 competitive games for the Yellow
Submarine, the Spanish defender has made a solid
impression with his leadership, consistency and technical
prowess. Many even regard him as one of the best
defenders in Spain, with the Spaniard also one of the
frontrunners to spearhead the Furia Roja defence in the
upcoming World Cup.
Pau Torres had been a top target for several teams around
Europe this summer. Chelsea and Man City as potential
destinations for the defender, with the former desperately
on the hunt for central defensive reinforcements after the
departure of Rudiger and Christensen.
Although Chelsea have recently roped in Koulibaly from
Napoli, the German boss wants to add two more top-
quality options. The Blues are pressing to add PSG centre-
back Presnel Kimpembe and are competing with
Barcelona for the services of Jules Kounde, but in Pau
Torres, they may have a perfect alternative.
