Chelsea are desperate to sign No.11 Primeira Liga forward

Pepe is the subject of interest from Chelsea
over a potential move in the winter transfer
window. Porto will only part ways with the
25-year-old attacker if a suitor triggers his
release clause, worth €70m. The Brazilian
attacker spent his formative years in his
homeland before graduating from the
academy of his hometown club Foz de
Iguacu.
But the Brazilian’s stock rose when he
joined Gremio half a dozen years ago. And
after five productive years with the
Brazilian club, the South American attacker
arrived in Europe when he joined the
Dragons last summer.
Pepe was slow off the blocks at Porto, but
he has raised his performance levels since
Luis Diaz’s move to Liverpool in January.
And Pepe has been decent at the onset of
the 2022/23 campaign, providing one assist
in four matches thus far. His progress has
not gone unnoticed either, with the Blues
showing interest in him.
Chelsea have been active in the market this
summer but are yet to strengthen their
squad to the German manager’s liking.
Sterling has reinforced Chelsea’s offensive
unit following his big-money move from
Man City. But with Pulisic and Ziyech facing
uncertain futures at Chelsea, the Blues will
need to sign another forward in January.

Pepe has thus popped up on Chelsea’s radar
as a viable candidate to strengthen the
Blues’ offensive unit. But Pepe will not come
cheap, with Porto pointing towards his
release clause, worth €70m, to part ways
with the attacker.
